Regulating groups of substances has become a consistent trend in recent years. By addressing structurally or functionally related substances together, this approach accelerates the identification of chemicals that require regulatory risk management and may help prevent regrettable substitutions. At the same time, group-based regulation increases regulatory complexity and raises data and compliance requirements. This presentation will highlight examples of current group regulations – such as under REACH, the Assessment of Regulatory Needs (ARN), PFAS initiatives, and the CLP Regulation – and explore the resulting challenges for industry and the broader supply chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
