Peter is Head of Chemistry & Industrial Biotechnology at KTN where one of his key roles is to oversee programmes\/ activities where innovation in chemistry and industrial biotechnology can play a key role in creating positive change.<\/p>

Peter has a detailed understanding of the innovation ecosystem, as well as a powerful network of connections. He has a detailed understanding of key challenges and opportunities for innovators in chemistry & industrial biotechnology and works closely with key stakeholders from Government and the private sector to develop new programmes\/ initiatives to accelerate innovation.<\/p>

Peter\u2019s key interests include supporting the move to a Net Zero and Circular Economy, developing new supply chains for Raw Materials and Feedstocks, also the adoption of digitalisation techniques.<\/p>

Peter holds a PhD in Chemistry from the Clean Technology Group at University of Nottingham. Prior to joining KTN, Peter spent more than years in Australia gaining a broad range of experience by working across research & innovation, industry consulting, policy development and managing sustainability programmes for the chemicals sector.<\/p>

Peter is also an Advisor on multiple Boards, including: green chemistry start-up Green Lizard Technologies; and Reducing Industrial Carbon Emissions (RICE)<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Lorna Williams is an independent consultant for the Chemicals and Materials sector, holding a rolling contract to run the Secretariat for the British Adhesives & Sealants Association (BASA), a trade association for the Adhesives and Sealants industry with around100 members. With a background in Materials Science and over 30 years\u2019 experience in a number of technical and commercial roles related to the adhesives and sealants and construction products markets, Lorna is heavily involved with aspects of UK, European and International standardisation and is actively involved with many other European National Associations within FEICA, the European Adhesives and Sealants Association.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Tim has a wealth of experience in supply chain and logistics, having held senior positions in both UK and global companies during a 30-year career.<\/p>

Now leading the CBA, he has regular engagement throughout government and is an influential member of various key groups such as the Trade Advisory Group for the Department for International Trade, the Domestic Advisory Group for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and of the \u2018Overview Group\u2019 working on UK REACH.
In addition to his UK activities, Tim works with international bodies such as the G7 and the OPCW on various matters such as security and regulation as well with other international Governments, Trade Associations and organisations in activities such as promoting trade and cooperation.<\/p>

As an inspirational and persuasive leader, he is a Chartered Fellow of the \u2018Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport\u2019 and a Fellow of the \u2018Society of Leadership Fellows\u2019 at St George\u2019s House, Windsor Castle. Darren Budd was born in Taplow, United Kingdom, in 1967 and is married with 3 children. He studied Chemistry at Kingston University, UK, and went on to do his doctorate on Transition Metal Complexation of Heterocyclic Conducting Polymers. Darren has held a number of positions within BASF; he worked in Germany for BASF\u2019s Venture Capital Business for 5 years. Then for 6 years until 1st January 2016, Darren was Head of BASF\u2019s in house distribution business for the UK & Ireland looking after sales to BASF\u2019s small and medium sized customers across BASF\u2019s chemicals portfolio. From January 2016, Darren took over as Commercial Director for BASF plc. This role is responsible for the Chemical Sales activities of BASF in the UK as well as the commercial activities of BASF in the UK to develop growth. Currently Darren is Chairman of the Chemical Business Association. He is also on the North West Regional Council of the CBI, a member of the Governing Board of the IBioIC in Glasgow, a Board Member of the British Coatings Federation and the Science and Technology Facilitation Council.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Neil leads on regulatory affairs for BASF in the UK and has worked in the chemical industry for over 35 years.<\/p>

Since 2007, Neil has been actively involved in REACH compliance projects including registration dossier compilation, SIEF negotiations, data cost-sharing mechanism construction alongside consortia representation and production site conformity. Currently, he is coordinating BASF\u2019s preparations and providing guidance on development and implementation of corporate processes to ensure UK REACH compliance across BASF\u2019s expansive portfolio.<\/p>

Prof. Adam Harvey, Professor of Process Intensification, Newcastle University\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Professor Adam Harvey is the Professor of Process Intensification at Newcastle University, School of Engineering and Head of the Process Intensification Group (PIG). The group is World-leading, and the largest PI research group in the World, comprising over 70 researchers: 15 academic staff, 10 research associates\/visitors and over 45 PhD students.<\/p>

Prof Harvey also manages the international network, PIN (Process Intensification Network), which recently held its 27th meeting (in Newcastle, June 2019), and is one of the authors of the main textbook on the subject (Reay, Ramshaw and Harvey).<\/p>

His research spans a diverse range of research areas including: process intensification, biofuels, CO2 chemistry, biomass processing, bioreactors, plasma processing and flow chemistry. Chief Executive of the Solvents Industry Association (SIA) since 2013, Andrew Norman has worked in the chemical industry for 27 years, predominantly in Chemical Distribution. Caroline Raine Caroline Raine is a regulatory expert in both supply and transport legislation with experience of interpreting and implementing EU legislation relating to hazardous chemical substances. Her knowledge and expertise are wide ranging and has been developed whilst working directly in the chemical industry. Caroline is a qualified Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) for the transport of hazardous goods by road and rail and holds a post graduate certificate in REACH management. Her depth of expertise means Caroline can help others understand, interpret, and manage their regulatory obligations. Caroline is working closely with ECHA on the new poison centres legislation.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Dr Sarah Hickingbottom is currently General Manager of pioneering renewable chemicals company Circa Group, developers of proprietary process to produce a highly flexible platform chemical (levoglucosenone) from waste cellulose. Previously CEO for the bioeconomy innovation cluster BioVale, she has extensive global consultancy experience advising brand owners, chemical manufacturers, start-ups and agricultural producers on bio-based economics and value chains. Sarah earned her bachelor\u2019s degree from Imperial College with an ERASMUS year studying at the Institut f\u00fcr Organische Chemie in Hannover, Germany. She moved to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) for her Chemistry Ph.D.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Geoff\u2019s passion is to close communication gaps including that between industry and education and ensure a sustainable future for all, with future business needs to the fore.<\/p>

For over 20 years Geoff worked within BASF, the world\u2019s largest chemical company including a decade on the plc board, with roles including communications, EHS, sustainability and corporate affairs. Today Geoff advises and consults to a wide range of organizational strategic and tactical groups covering the private, public and third sectors in arenas including sustainability, science, environment and further education.<\/p>

He was brought up on a small family farm in South Armagh, N. Ireland, read biology in Liverpool and followed it with a range of post graduate qualifications in Health & Safety and management including a sleepless MBA. His doctorate concerned the strategic business value of social networks. Graeme is CPI\u2019s Chief Technology and Innovation Officer. He is responsible for supporting the development of the Technology and Innovation culture within CPI and ensuring CPI\u2019s innovation capability is integrated into the High Value Manufacturing Catapult offer.<\/p>

He originally joined CPI as the Director of Formulation in 2015, where he led the establishment and management of CPI\u2019s Formulation capability which enables the UK\u2019s ecosystem of academics, SMEs and large companies to de-risk the development and scale-up to manufacture of their complex, high-value, formulated products.<\/p>

Graeme joined CPI from Procter and Gamble where he spent 20 years in a range of product design and technology innovation roles across a range of FMCGs (e.g. Fairy Automatic Dishwashing products) and in Corporate R&D developing new product categories e.g. Sleep-care and Water purification. Before leaving Procter and Gamble, Graeme was Global Associate Director for Strategic Alliances where he worked in partnership with appliance manufacturers to ensure domestic appliances and detergents innovated together to ensure consumers got ideal end results, with sustainability built-in by reducing water and energy use. In parallel he also led the Global Methods Team bringing more robust and consumer predictive methods for product evaluation which is key in accelerating innovation, allowing faster decision making.<\/p>

Graeme\u2019s passion for technical capability development through people saw him lead various community of practice groups to accelerate knowledge transfer and spark idea re-application to add business value. He has a Ph.D. in Preparation, Characterisation and Catalytic Properties of Gallium Loaded Zeolites from the University of Edinburgh.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Kerry achieved her doctorate in 2003. Now with extensive experience in the scientific sales sector, she is responsible for widening Asynt\u2019s global network of distributors and customers whilst also looking after Asynt\u2019s territory in the North of England. With a keen interest in laboratory sustainability projects, including reducing carbon footprints, energy usage and reduction of water consumption within the laboratory, she prides herself on bringing energy reducing solutions to the laboratory bench. Having trained as a Chemist and following 3 years working within a laboratory setting, Jessica joined the membership department at the Royal Society of Chemistry. Her role as Membership Recruitment Executive involves partnering with and supporting companies of all sizes and varieties to help them achieve a framework for continuing professional development, setting a pathway to the RSC professional recognition awards and aiding their recruitment and retention of talented chemical scientists.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Karen obtained a degree and PhD in Chemistry from UMIST, following which she joined a multi-national imaging company as a research scientist working on the introduction of a new product range. This involved the design and patenting of new proprietary materials followed by their development and scaleup for product use.<\/p>

Karen moved into the \u201cnew product introduction group\u201d working with manufacturing, marketing, and customers to develop product specifications.Karen then worked for a FMCG company helping to ensure a fast but efficient introduction of new products for customers from across the globe.<\/p>

Karen now works for the CBA where she is the main interface with members to whom her knowledge and experience provides immense value. Karen leads or coordinates various CBA Committees, projects, initiatives, and member engagement events working with a variety of stakeholders, including UK and overseas Government departments and agencies.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Dr Gill Westgate, Chair, Cosmetics Cluster UK\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Gill works at the University of Bradford as Business Development Manager for the Centre for Skin Sciences, a major centre of excellence for skin and hair research. Her role is to develop sustainable partnerships between industry and academic research and to help translate science into business opportunities.<\/p>

Her cosmetics and personal care industry experience was obtained at Unilever Research in the UK, where she led their scalp and hair biology research programme for many years, working in product development and claims substantiation for several international hair care brands.<\/p>

Gill has a BSc Hons in Biochemistry from the University of Edinburgh and a PhD in hair research. She is a member of the Society of Cosmetic Scientists and long-standing member of the European Hair Research Society. She serves on the organising committee for UK and international conferences and is well known in the skin and hair research field.<\/p>

In her role as Chair of CCUK, Gill brings over 30 years experience in the sector, industry leadership skills, access to University experts, funding, facilities and mentoring. She is working with CCUK to improve higher education development for the sector to improve employability.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Mick Goodwin, Associate Director, WSP\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Mick Goodwin is an expert in EU and UK chemical regulations, including REACH and CLP, he is part of WSPs REACH and Product Stewardship team. Mick joined WSP in 2021 after 14 years working in the colour chemicals industry in a variety of compliance \/ regulatory affairs \/ product stewardship roles.<\/p>

He has direct experience completing REACH Registrations as Lead Registrant and managing all related joint submission financial and legal activities. He has experience auditing supply chains to ensure product compliance for downstream users across territorial jurisdictions.<\/p>

Micks broad areas of expertise include: GHS \/ CLP, including calculating classifications for substances and mixtures, Poison Centre Notifications, SDS authoring REACH registration management, Food contact and Toy safety<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
