This allows the project to debottleneck and enlarge Sasol\u2019s advanced alumina asset base, strengthening its position as a leading global supplier of high\u2011performance aluminas and a differentiated merchant supplier of spherical alumina supports for advanced catalysts and other high\u2011value applications.<\/p><p>The expansion supports Sasol\u2019s strategy to grow its speciality products portfolio, deepen long\u2011term customer partnerships and enhance the resilience of its global chemicals business. All necessary construction approvals have been secured, procurement is underway, and the general contractor is expected to be appointed in June, with beneficial operation targeted around 2029.<\/p><p>Project design includes energy optimisation and process improvements, with an expected reduction of up to 15% in the product carbon footprint per tonne compared with the current baseline.
