EU/GB Divergence – the gap is starting to grow

Caroline is a chemical legislation expert, with experience of interpreting and implementing EU legislation relating to hazardous chemical substances. Her knowledge and expertise is wide ranging, covering both supply and transport legislation including REACH, Safety Data Sheets, Poison Centres, ADR, COSHH, basically anything related to chemical safety and compliance!

Caroline is very passionate about her work and wants to ensure that everyone is safe in their work with dangerous goods and chemicals and that companies comply fully with the regulations. Caroline will also help companies to save money where perhaps they are overregulating, a good example of this is suggesting that companies transport in Limited Quantities (LQ) (where applicable of course!) thus saving money by not needing to purchase UN approved packaging.

This experience has been developed through consultancy projects and working with both government and specific working groups and trade associations, as well as her time in industry!

Kathryn is one of the British Coating Federation’s Regulatory Affairs Managers and Vice-Chairman of the Chemical Hazards Communication Society.  Kathryn has a wealth of experience having worked in Emergency Response and Consultancy before joining the BCF, where she is the lead on chemical regulations such as CLP, BPR and also, as a DGSA, on the transport of dangerous goods.

Chloe Alexander is a Senior Campaigner at environmental NGO, CHEM Trust, which works at UK, EU and international level. She works exclusively on UK policy. She previously worked as a senior UK parliamentary researcher working on environmental issues for over ten years and political consultant to trade unions in the creative industries.

Dr Barry Brogan is a Senior Regulatory Efficacy Consultant at Enviresearch, a leading UK-based regulatory consultancy. With a background in zoology, and over 15 years of experience in crop protection and biocidal product development, Barry specialises in the design and management of efficacy testing programmes to meet EU and GB registration requirements.

I started my career as a Product Steward in the speciality chemical sector, helping international chemical companies meet their legal obligations without compromising on profit or customer satisfaction. I have around 9 years of first-hand experience dealing with the regulatory challenges faced by the chemical industry. I am currently working as a Product Safety Consultant for Dr Knoell Consult Ltd which gives me the chance to interact with a diverse range of clients and work at the forefront of regulatory progress. I hope that the insights I have gained can help other regulatory professionals to not just comply but really excel in this area.
