About this presentation

Part of the RSC SME Showcase session

CO2 emissions are the old enemy of climate change. One of our biggest societal challenges to reducing emissions is economically managing them without reinventing systems or creating barriers throughout all industries that make modern living possible.

I will discuss our plans to bring about new technology which produces materials from CO2 that can then be used in the manufacture of tires, silicones, paints, pharmaceuticals, optics, electronics & fuels into major production, turning industry into a carbon capture ecosystem and how the Royal Society of Chemistry has supported this deep tech through its journey.

Session overview

The Royal Society of Chemistry supports innovative chemical sciences companies to align with its strategy of making the world a better place. Hear from two of these companies, Stoli Chem and Barton Blakeley, who will talk about manufacturing flow efficiencies driving the sustainability agenda and how shifting CO2 from problem to solution by creating everyday materials from this greenhouse gas can equip all of us with the ability to accelerate towards net zero.

Christopher Barton – Speaker Bio:

Christopher, the CEO of Barton Blakeley Technologies is originally from the Aerospace industry so is well versed in dealing with international negotiations and new product development. This is where he started to wonder if commercial and environmental goals could be strategically aligned. He launched his applied sciences R&D company 6 years ago to look at capturing emissions, like CO2 and utilising them back into the chemical value stream thus driving forward the race to net zero.
