After his time as Executive Director of Greenpeace Italy, David led the Italian Composting and Biogas Association CIC and then the Italian Bioplastics Association. From 2015 David was President of the International Solid Waste Association while acting as the personal advisor to the Italian Minister of the Environment. In 2016 he returned to the UK to found and lead the Bio Based and Biodegradable Industries Association UK as well as the European Circular Bioeconomy Policy Initiative – promoting the bioeconomy in the UK and EU. David Newman is currently the President of the World Biogas Association and member of the Resources and Waste Stakeholder Advisory Group at DEFRA.
