About this session
About these DAILY sessions
Daily feature session, hosted by RSC, will feature a successful breakthrough member company that has benefitted from the RSC’s SME ‘EnterprisePlus’ scheme, providing an insight into their individual innovations & their developmental journey including the success & dynamics of the ‘EnterprisePlus’ programme.
Featured companies/solutions include:
- Day 1: (Wed 15 Sept, 14.00 – 14.20)
Dr Patrick Dodds, CEO and Founder of Hexigone
This presentation will explore several smart additives for coatings which provide various functionalities and “bring them to life” such as chemically intelligent corrosion inhibitors enabling self-healing coatings and antimicrobial additives which make coatings key to preventing the spread of diseases in hospitals.
Hexigone now has over 40 partners who are formulating with its products, ranging from multi-billion pound coating manufacturers to steel producers to smaller niche coating manufacturers. Strong evidence from these independent validations shows Hexigone products (notably AX1) outperforming the market leaders in the respective industries (Fig.1). Where compatible, Hexigone has so far shown outperformance of reference pigments 100% of the time.
- Day 2: (Thur 16 Sept, 15.00 – 15.20)
Dr Alexander Reip, CTO at Oxford nanoSystems Ltd
Dr Alex Reip charts the journey of Oxford nanoSystems (OnS), starting at its founding in 2012 and demonstrating how invaluable the RSC has been to the growth of the company over the past 8 years.
OnS develops advanced and highly innovative coating technologies that enhance energy transfer within heating and cooling systems. OnS coating technologies enable heat exchangers to be made smaller, lighter and more efficient – and at lower cost.
Founded by world-renowned scientists in 2012, OnS has invested over eight years in developing and optimising its ground-breaking coating technologies. Backed by proven, successful investors from the Oxford technology community, OnS is based on Abingdon Business Park.
Dr. Reip is CTO of Oxford nanoSystems, a high tech SME based at the Abingdon Business Park. He has an MSc in Chemistry from The University of Reading, and completed his Nanomaterial PhD from Brunel University concurrently to working as CTO.
