A feature ‘closing session’ to the CHEMUK Day 1 (Wed 15) programme illuminates some of the exciting innovations coming through Innovate UK’s ‘Young Innovators Award Programme’, run in partnership with The Prince’s Trust.
Come along and listen to a selection of quick-fire presentations from just a selection of bright and talented young entrepreneurs, already turning heads with innovative, topical and highly-investable projects. Examples chosen will be of particular relevance to the chemical, materials & life sciences sectors.

Neil Calder’s early career was some 15 years with BAE SYSTEMS in the development of novel manufacturing processes for military aircraft, most specifically in laser materials processing and additive manufacturing. He has since spent time with the NorthWest Aerospace Alliance providing innovation support across this regional cluster and since 2006 as an independent consultant. For the last ten years that has primarily involved being both an assessor and grant monitoring officer for both UK and European government supported industrial research and development and innovation. This has leaned heavily on experiences in linking academia, industry and public bodies across a number of technical domains involving materials and manufacturing technology. He has also provided specialist sector and strategic guidance to trade shows, including the UK Advanced Engineering show and CHEM UK.
