Part of the ‘Minimising waste in chemical formulation’ FEATURE SESSION/PANEL Q&A (Hosted by GAMBICA)

Improving productivity and reducing waste by appropriate temperature control

Speaker:

Dr. Paddy DelaneyCEO - Huber UK Temperature Control Ltd

Time & Location

Thursday: 14.30 to 15.30, Stage 4

About this presentation

When it comes to chemical reactions in processes, the right temperature is a crucial factor. Therefore, chemical processes need an appropriate and reliable heating/cooling system.  For process engineers it is essential to find the best possible compromise between yield, quality, productivity and safety. Paddy will provide examples of how to use advances in temperature control which have been developed with the support of process engineers from the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, to minimise waste while keeping with the evolution of modern chemistry and bioproduction.

About this session

In this session, expert members of GAMBICA, the trade association for lab equipment, test and measurement suppliers, will offer step by step advice on how to drive waste minimisation in key areas that matter to the chemical industry; avoiding incomplete chemistry, minimising use of energy and raw materials and reducing end of pipe waste and re-work. Drawing on expertise from extensive collaborations with leading chemists and organisations, the speakers will explain how they are responding to the chemical industry’s drive to transform research and development by focusing on improving quality, minimising waste and reducing cost. They will each present on particular aspects of waste minimisation for 10 minutes then will open up to a debate on the barriers to waste minimisation and how they can be overcome and on what is coming down the line in terms of technical developments and customer requirements.

Host  – Jacqueline Balian– Head of Laboratories Sector, GAMBICA

Speaker Bio:

Paddy has been working in the UK for over 17 years, starting out performing mg to kg synthesis, and then moving in to the arena of reactor design, finally settling down in the temperature control sector. With a wealth of practical and theoretical experience in process temperature control. Paddy and the team at Huber UK will be happy to answer your questions.
