About this Session

Founded nearly 100 years ago, the Chemical Business Association has grown to be the voice of the chemical supply chain, working closely with its members and Government alike in navigating and finding solutions to the many challenges facing the industry.

Day Two’s Big Debate panel will look at ‘Attracting future talent into an aging chemical industry.’ We’ll reflect on their experiences as to how industry can work smarter to improve perceptions and attract future talent.

Josh is a new face in the Chemical Business Association assuming the role of Member’s Services Representative. With a background in Performing Arts, Hospitality and Leisure he has an overwhelming amount of customer services and performance-based skills which will help add to this role and enhance our members communication and experience with the association.

Karen has a degree and PhD in chemistry and during her career, she has worked in a number of world renowned businesses undertaking product development, manufacturing and customer support as well as procurement, sales and business development. Since joining the Chemical Business Association to lead the commercial team, this wealth of experience has been invaluable to the Members.

Technical Sales – WhitChem

Anna has a Bsc (Hons) in Chemistry and has established 4 years of experience working in the chemical industry at WhitChem, she began her career as Marketing Assistant in a newly formed role at WhitChem and has since progressed into WhitChem’s external technical sales team where she now manages her own portfolio of customers and also manages WhitChem’s textile processing chemicals range from supplier Tanatex, acting as a primary day to day contact for this long-established principal. Across her 4 years at WhitChem, Anna has lead WhitChem’s marketing activities, developed and launched a new website and has implemented new strategies and processes across the business after identifying areas for improvement.

Business Lead UK & Account Manager, BTC Europe

Jenny Cunningham studied Chemistry at Manchester Metropolitan University before starting her 10 year career at BASF. She has had a number of commercial sales roles, mainly within BTC the distribution arm of the business, and is currently BTC Business Lead for the ‘C-business area’ and will shortly be starting a new position as Junior Business Manager Europe (BTC). Jenny is a member of the NWBLT Rising Stars Program which aims at promoting women into senior leadership positions and has also created an Early Careers Network within BASF PLC.

Darren has been involved in the chemical industry for 14 years, starting as a HGV bulk chemical tanker driver.

Working at every level within the haulage industry gaining knowledge from older generations taking old fashioned values into the modern era.

Haulage has been in the blood since an early age with the family business, working on the mechanics of the vehicles, the planning and transport management and also the procurement of the work gives Darren the overall view of the daily running and future planning for the company.

Graduate Account Manager - A-Gas Electronic Materials

I am the Graduate Account Manager for the Semiconductor portfolio at A-Gas Electronic Materials, I started the role in August 2020 off the back on my master’s degree in chemistry. My previous experience includes a placement abroad in Belgium, I spent 12 months working in a project group engineering a flexible flat panel x-ray detector prototype. With my Chemistry academic background, I had a rounded platform to build the technical knowledge required for the role. I now support a large variety of customers from senior experienced professionals and more junior individuals who are working with our chemistry.
