About this presentation

Chemical Business Association – GUEST KEYNOTE

Introduced by: Tim Doggett, Chief Executive – Chemical Business Association

The competition for talent has never been more challenging. There has of course been a competitive battleground between peer companies to attract the best people for many years, but this is now increasingly prevalent between different sectors and industries.

In such an environment, collaboration within specific sectors and industries is essential to ensure that they are seen as a viable and attractive career destination, and as an employer of choice.

Often overlooked, the logistics sector supports all areas of society and the economy and is a major employer in the UK. It is an essential and integral part of the chemical supply chain, and in 2022, supported by the Department for Transport, the logistics industry launched Generation Logistics to increase the number of people considering logistics as a career, and improve positive sentiment about logistics, especially with key target groups including 16–24-year-olds, career switchers, and other minority groups. In short, it’s all about encouraging the next generation of logistics workers to engage with the opportunities available and keep the nation’s supply chains protected.

The Chemical Business Association (CBA) has been an official partner and supporter of Generation Logistics from the outset and in this session, Tim Doggett, CEO of the CBA will introduce Phil Roe from Generation Logistics and President of Logistics UK who will give an overview of this incredibly successful initiative, describing the collaborative journey across companies, Trade Associations & Government which has created a highly effective campaign and to highlight the impressive results already achieved in such a short space of time.
