About us
Welcome to Hellma. The world of highest precision!
Since its foundation in 1922, Hellma has evolved from a glass cell manufacturer in South Baden to one of the world's leading manufacturers of precision optical products and provider of integrated solutions for optical analysis. Numerous customers in the fields of molecular spectroscopy and photonics value Hellma products for their exceptionally high reliability and quality. Since the company's foundation 100 years ago, the name Hellma has stood for excellence in precision, competence, and passion.
Today Hellma manufactures a wide range of spectroscopic sample interface products, including optical immersion probes and flow-cells for transmission/absorbance, ATR, reflectance, fluorescence, and Raman applications, through to traditional cuvettes and customised cells for specialised spectroscopic analyses.
For laboratory support applications we supply an extensive range of cells and cuvettes for laboratory spectrometers, along with a comprehensive selection of NIST traceable Calibrated Reference Material (CRM) filters for the validation of spectrometer performance to EP and USP requirements; this is supported by our recertification service to ensure on-going GMP compliance.
Looking to Biopharma and small volume analysis, Hellma produce both 96-well quartz microplates and CRM microplates for photometric validation of your microplate reader. With lab research in mind, the Falcata Lab probe is designed for delicate development work, with its interchangeable pathlength tips for flexible and sensitive benchtop analysis; ideal for easy, small-scale spectroscopic readings and experimental reaction monitoring.
Having proven your concept and refined the process, as you move to pilot scale and beyond, we can mirror your experimental analysis with process control technologies – and even more robust flow cells and plant probes including the 3A CIP/SIP Excalibur probe for even the most strictly controlled of environments.
Advanced/Revolutionary/New manufacturing technologies enable us to offer a unique service, producing customised quartz products, shaped, sized and even detailed with micro-volume channels as your specific needs require; we can produce microcells and flow-cytometry cells to suit any application.

Katana XP12, 3-bounce UV/Vis ATR spectroscopic probe
Hellma Katana XP12 is the process ready 3-bounce ATR probe for applications measuring high optical density liquids, pastes, and highly concentrated suspensions for spectroscopic analysis in the UV/Vis range.

Hellma 3 in 1 flow cell
The Hellma 3 in 1 flow cell is ingeniously engineered, compact and more capable than any other cuvette! Crafted from finest quartz, with black quartz masking, and fully fused monolithic construction, the 3 in 1 is physically tough, with high chemical and temperature resistance; it is even autoclavable! Hellma’s quartz cold-casting technology has enabled our engineers to sculpt the head of the cell to include quartz M6 screw threads for a secure flow connection, fused into the same single monolith, the cell is leak proof under pressure to at least 5 bar! Ergonomically designed with 4 apertures creating 2 perpendicular light paths, each with a different path length, it can be rotated in place to change path length with a simple twist, while still connected to the eluent flow, used as a standard transmission cell with variable path length and for orthogonal fluorescence measurements, it even has a locator dot for ease of alignment tracking. Ideal for tablet dissolution analysis – as absorbance increases over time, with a simple 90-degree rotation the path length can be reduced to boost your instrument sensitivity. Perfect for use with a dissolution cuvette array, the variable path length is sensitive enough to test precious, low concentration pharmaceutical analytes!

Hellma 3A Excalibur transmission Probe
Enhancing Process Safety and Quality Whether food, pharmaceutical or synthetic, reliable and precise monitoring of a process is essential for compliant production. Exceeding strict, mandatory USA "3-A" hygiene standards, and European EHEDG compliance, the Excalibur HY 25 (3-A) offers safe, compliant production while maintaining the precise and reproducible measurements.

FFV transmission Flow-Cell.
Making inline spectroscopic measurements easy; the FFV can be used in development, pilot or for PAT process control. The FFV comes in a range of configurations, offering fixed or variable path lengths from 0.5 to 12mm, with a clean-out port option for easy maintenance.
