A central focus of Puragen’s innovation is the removal and permanent destruction of PFAS, including PFOS, PFOA, and other persistent organic pollutants (POPs). These compounds present significant environmental and regulatory challenges due to their persistence and resistance to conventional treatment methods.
Puragen’s award-winning PFAS Search, Capture & Destroy technology delivers a complete solution for PFAS management. The FiltraPure® range of activated carbons has been surface-engineered specifically for PFAS adsorption and is effective across both short- and long-chain PFAS compounds. These carbons are deployed in municipal and industrial water treatment applications to reliably capture PFAS at increasingly stringent regulatory limits.
Captured PFAS is then permanently destroyed using Puragen’s proprietary REACT-Sys® technology. Unlike traditional approaches that concentrate contaminants for disposal, REACT-Sys® delivers complete molecular breakdown of PFAS, ensuring permanent destruction. Spent carbon is safely reactivated and recycled for reuse, eliminating the need for landfill disposal or hazardous incineration and providing a genuinely sustainable treatment pathway.
Sustainability is embedded at the core of Puragen’s operating model. By integrating high-performance adsorption, closed-loop reactivation, and permanent destruction technologies, Puragen enables customers to reduce CO₂ emissions by more than 90% compared with the production, use, and disposal of virgin activated carbon.

The company supplies a broad portfolio of high-performance activated carbon products across a wide range of applications, including PFAS and dissolved organics removal in water treatment, hydrogen sulphide (H₂S) and volatile organic compound (VOC) mitigation in biogas upgrading, and odour and emissions control in air treatment.
To support customers requiring flexibility, rapid deployment, or temporary treatment capacity, Puragen operates one of Europe’s largest mobile filter rental fleets. These scalable, plug-and-play filtration units are designed to minimise downtime, eliminate on-site carbon handling, and provide an efficient solution for pilot projects, shutdown support, or high-volume treatment needs.
