Established in 1970, Rutpen Ltd is a leading independent UK-based contract chemical manufacturer specialising in toll blending, contract manufacturing, solvent recycling, and product development. With over 50 years of expertise, we deliver high-quality, customised chemical solutions for industries including food processing, personal care, automotive, detergents, water treatment, construction, pharmaceuticals, and industrial manufacturing. Based on our expansive 12+ acre site at Membury Airfield, Berkshire, we combine decades of experience with modern facilities to solve complex chemical challenges confidentially and efficiently.

- Contract Chemical Manufacturing & Toll Blending
We offer full-service contract manufacturing and toll blending for liquids, powders, waxes, pastes, gels, and hazardous/non-hazardous materials. Our ATEX-rated facilities handle heating, cooling, and high-viscosity blending across more than 50 mixing vessels, with daily liquid production exceeding 60,000 litres. From pilot batches to full-scale production, we manufacture your formulations or develop/improve them using our expert technical team – all with complete confidentiality.
- Solvent Recycling & Recovery
Our regulated, Environment Agency-permitted solvent recycling plant recovers and rectifies solvents from manufacturing processes, enabling reuse for significant cost savings and environmental benefits. We produce discrete batches tailored to your needs, supporting sustainability goals through circular economy practices.
- Product Development & Formulation
Our in-house laboratory and technical specialists provide chemical product development, alternative sourcing, and problem-solving. Whether reformulating for compliance, performance, or cost, we support innovation from concept to commercialisation.
- Packing, Filling & Logistics
Automated filling lines, versatile packing machines, and labelling in a purpose-built facility ensure efficient delivery. Our in-house logistics team, with a modern HGV fleet, provides reliable UK and European distribution.
Ruxsil: Our Dedicated Silicone Division
Launched as a registered trademark division of Rutpen, Ruxsil brings decades of silicone expertise to deliver high-quality Silicone oils, silicone emulsions, silicone antifoams, volatile silicones, dimethicone fluids, silicone polymers, silicone blends, silicone grease, and silane reactives.
Key product ranges include:
- Ruxsil SO Silicone Oils → for industrial, cosmetic, and food-grade applications.
- Ruxsil AE Antifoam Emulsions → food-safe foam control for fermentation, detergents, and water treatment.
- Ruxsil AC Antifoam Compounds → for aqueous and solvent systems.
- Ruxsil ES Emulsions → macro and microemulsions optimised for polishes and formulations.
Many Ruxsil products are Food-grade certified, supported by our FSSC 22000 accreditation. We serve personal care, healthcare, automotive, construction, and potable water sectors with consistent performance, custom pack sizes, and technical support.
Facilities & Capacity
Our 12+ acre Membury site features extensive warehousing (including a 2,000-pallet facility), clean rooms, ATEX blending suites, powder plants, and a new solvent recovery plant. Ongoing multi-million-pound investments include expanded silicone manufacturing vessels and enhanced liquid filling areas, ensuring scalability and reliability.
