Case Study- Metering Methyl Methacrylate from IBC’s
PROBLEM
The customer faced problems in accurately transferring highly flammable MMA from IBC’s into their mixing vessel. They wanted to ensure that the correct volume was transferred into their process at all times, reduce waste and spill risk, plus improve safety and increase transfer speed.
SOLUTION
Flux developed a portable, ATEX (Ex) approved pump system designed for safe operation in hazardous Zoned areas where flammable vapours are present. To handle MMA—a low‑density, low‑viscosity chemical—we supplied a robust trolley‑mounted F430 stainless steel 316 pump fitted with Kalrez and PTFE seals for superior chemical resistance. The solution incorporated an F460 Ex drive motor, FMC flowmeter with Fluxtronic batch controller, and an Ex‑rated FSV amplifier for precise switching. Conductive hoses with swaged connections and a custom‑engineered filling lance completed this fully compliant, high‑performance pumping package
