PANEL SESSION:

Beyond Conventional Testing: Grouping Strategies Driving the New REACH Polymer Requirements

The REACH revision represents the long-awaited legislative update of the core of the European chemicals framework. Among the most significant changes are the introduction of polymer registrations, which bring new regulatory challenges, particularly in relation to analytical identification and property testing. While grouping and read-across approaches have been helpful in reducing animal testing for conventional substance registrations, the use of such alternative methods will be vital for enabling companies to meet their obligations under the new Polymer Registration Requirements. This presentation will provide an overview of the criteria for identifying and qualifying polymers requiring registration, and will demonstrate the practical applications of the grouping approach.
