Dr. Jens Klabunde is a senior expert in business development with a strong background in chemicals, bioprocesses, and fermentation technologies, combining deep scientific expertise with strategic commercial leadership. Since April 2025, he has served as Business Development Manager for Connect Chemicals GmbH, where he supports the R&D department in identifying and qualifying new custom manufacturing opportunities. He manages complex projects involving tailor-made chemical synthesis and is currently establishing fermentation and biocatalysis capabilities at the company’s R&D Centre in India. Before moving to this position Dr. Klabunde held several leadership roles at Oxea GmbH for more than thirteen years. Prior to Oxea, he served as Office Supervisor at Cluster Industrielle Biotechnologie, where he oversaw innovation management, fundraising, and scientific evaluation of public-private R&D projects. He began his industrial career as Head of Laboratory at Artes-Biotechnology GmbH, leading contract research projects in biocatalysis and industrial bioprocess development. His postdoctoral work at Dynavax GmbH focused on genetic engineering of microbial secretory pathways to enhance biopharmaceutical production.
