Novo Nordisk has formed a strategic partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to speed up drug discovery and modernise its operations through artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud technology.

At the centre of the collaboration is a new co-innovation hub in London, where Novo Nordisk scientists will work alongside AWS engineers. The teams will use Novo Nordisk’s scientific data and expertise together with AWS AI services to reduce the time between identifying a drug target and testing a potential treatment in humans.

AWS has been named Novo Nordisk’s preferred cloud provider and strategic AI partner. Technologies including Amazon Bio Discovery, Amazon Bedrock and Bedrock AgentCore will support the identification of drug targets, faster therapy design and the secure analysis of genomic, imaging and clinical data.

The partnership is already delivering results, with reduced clinical documentation time and AI tools supporting productivity for more than 25,000 Novo Nordisk employees.

By combining pharmaceutical expertise with scalable cloud infrastructure and AI, the collaboration aims to make research more efficient and help bring new treatments for serious chronic diseases to patients sooner.
