A biopharmaceutical project has shown how Module Type Package (MTP) technology can make modular automation practical in GMP-regulated manufacturing. By standardising equipment interfaces, MTP enables faster integration, more flexible production and easier expansion of facilities.

ZETA integrated an MTP-ready Freeze & Thaw unit using standardised controls, OPC UA communication and batch-focused process logic. Working with Turck and COPA-DATA, the team used prevalidated automation components and a structured qualification approach.

The module was connected to the orchestration system in around one hour, reducing overall integration effort by up to 80%. The project also delivered a consistent operator interface and lower validation complexity, demonstrating the potential of MTP for scalable, flexible pharmaceutical production.
