Following this purpose, we design and manufacture rupture discs, explosion vents and associated burst detection systems to protect people, plant and the environment.
Our services include highly specialised engineering and design consultation, product training seminars, site surveys and a stock consolidation programme.
Serving a global customer base, we have two manufacturing facilities: one in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma (USA) and one in North Shields, UK. These are supported by six regional sales offices and over sixty approved representatives worldwide.

LoKr DUO
The LoKr DuoTM two-piece safety cartridge provides the proven advantages of the LoKr Safety Cartridge (best-in-class low KR, easy installation, and leak-tightness) in a two-piece, modular design. Instead of a single welded cartridge that must be removed in its entirety after activation, the LoKr Duo separates into an outlet body and a welded inlet/rupture disc module. When the disc bursts, you simply replace the inlet module; the outlet body stays in line, saving time and reducing waste. Key features and benefits Low KR for high flow, compact piping: The LoKr family is engineered around a best‑in‑class flow‑resistance factor (KR≈0.22), allowing engineers to achieve required relief flows without upsizing pipework. The LoKr Duo shares this low‑KR geometry, so plants can retain existing line sizes and still meet relief‑system sizing rules. Two‑piece cartridge design: The outlet body and inlet assembly are built to mate precisely. The inlet contains the disc and integral seal; once it bursts, you swap the inlet module. This reduces inventory costs and downtime compared with traditional three‑piece disc/holder/gasket systems. Hermetically sealed leak‑tight construction: The Lokr Duo’s inlet disc assembly is hermetically sealed and leak‑checked, reducing leak paths. It withstands full vacuum and is available for both gas and liquid service. Non‑torque‑sensitive installation: The integrated seal means there are no conflicting torque values between the holder and the disc. You simply torque the flange bolts to the gasket specifications; the disc is protected from damage and installation errors. Wide range of sizes and pressures: Standard sizes range from 1 in. to 12 in., with operating ratios up to 95% and burst tolerance of ±5%. High reliability and non‑fragmenting design: The reverse‑acting rupture disc provides consistent burst performance with high cycle life and won’t fragment when it opens. It is suitable for high‑cycling or pulsating applications.

Opti-Gard rupture disc
Opti-Gard is a high-performance reverse acting rupture disc. With a high operating ratio of up to 95% combined with an industry-leading burst tolerance of +/-3%, it enables exceptionally high performance that supports process safety and efficiency. Opti-Gard features a smooth surface finish and can be supplied with an optional fluoropolymer liner on the process and/or vacuum side. It withstands full vacuum and high levels of back pressure without additional vacuum support to ensure the maximum free-flow area on burst. We supply Opti-Gard as standard with a magnet for our non-invasive burst detection system, Flo-Tel. Flo-Tel offers a practical, reusable solution for detecting when a rupture disc has functioned. The sensor is non-invasive to the process and is therefore unaffected by downstream pressure fluctuations or corrosion. After an overpressure event, the sensor does not need replacing, which eliminates the need for expensive re-wiring costs and maintenance planning. Our dual-certified dual-certified Exd/EXia/b system Flo-Tel XD offers the same non-invasive burst detection for hazardous and explosive environments.

Opti-Gard SoLo - Low-pressure rupture disc
Opti-Gard SoLo is an innovative, low pressure rupture disc that works reliably even in demanding process conditions. The unique, patented geometry of this reverse-acting rupture disc enables accurate bursting in low pressure applications. The solid metal bursting disc operates accurately from pressures as low as 2 psig. Install Opti-Gard SoLo in our reverse-acting rupture disc holder. We fit the disc with a magnet as standard so you can use it with Elfab’s unique, reusable, non-invasive burst detection system Flo-Tel.

Flo-Tel - Non-invasive burst sensor
Flo-Tel is a practical, reusable burst detection solution for indicating when a rupture disc has activated. Operating on a simple reed switch and magnet technology, the Flo-Tel burst sensor fits into a holder with a magnet on the rupture disc. When the rupture disc bursts, the magnet arcs away from the sensor, giving an open circuit signal. Flo-Tel is non-invasive to the process and is therefore unaffected by downstream pressure fluctuations or corrosion. This feature also eliminates leak paths and the risk of false alarms associated with traditional membrane-type burst detection systems. After rupturing, the disc is the only element that needs replacing, which eliminates the need for expensive re-wiring costs and maintenance planning. Available with a 2m, 5m or 10m cable, Flo-Tel is Suitable for process temperatures up to 300°C and offers a fail-safe detection system. Flo-Tel is ATEX approved to II 1G Ex ia IIC Ga and II 1D Ex ia IIIC Da IP66. It carries the EC-Type Examination Certificate ITS03 ATEX 21698X. Please note that it must be connected to an intrinsically safe supply.
