The Bettersize BeScan Lab Stability Analyser is an advanced instrument designed to evaluate the stability of dispersions, emulsions, suspensions, and foams used throughout the chemicals industry. Using Static Multiple Light Scattering (SMLS) technology, the BeScan Lab provides rapid, sensitive, and non-destructive stability analysis, helping laboratories better understand product behaviour over time.
In the chemicals sector, product stability is essential for maintaining performance, shelf life, processing efficiency, and customer satisfaction. The BeScan Lab detects destabilisation mechanisms such as sedimentation, creaming, flocculation, coalescence, and phase separation long before changes become visible. Its high-resolution scanning system captures transmission and backscattering data throughout the sample, providing detailed insight into formulation behaviour and particle migration.
The instrument is particularly valuable for paints, coatings, inks, pigments, adhesives, polymers, lubricants, battery slurries, agrochemicals, and specialty chemicals. It enables scientists to optimise formulations by comparing dispersants, surfactants, grinding conditions, and raw materials while reducing reliance on lengthy traditional stability studies.
A major advantage of the BeScan Lab is its ability to analyse highly concentrated samples up to 95% v/v without dilution or shear, preserving the true structure of the formulation during testing. The system also offers temperature-controlled measurements up to 80 °C, allowing accelerated stability studies and faster prediction of long-term product performance.
