Stonchem 691 is a new epoxy coating for the chemical industry made up of high-density cross-linked polymer chains designed for areas requiring electrostatic discharge (ESD) properties and high chemical resistance.

Kemtile, a division of Stonhard, and market lead for ‘single source’ flooring install in the UK, will be showcasing Stonchem 691 at ChemUK on stand E47 in the processing and engineering zone.
Using carbon nanotube (CNT) technology, this new-age conductive network is engineered to deliver reliable conductivity while maintaining excellent resistance to concentrated sulfuric acid, caustics, and solvents.
It is formulated to control static charge generation and improve cleanability of the surface while maintaining conductivity and spark-proof requirements for ATEX zones.
ATEX zones classify hazardous workplaces into specific areas based on the frequency and duration of explosive atmospheres—whether caused by gases, vapours, mists, or combustible dusts.
Stonhard’s Linings Manager Sean McIntyre commented: “This is a small change designed to make a big difference to customers in the chemical industry tackling key issues around ESD and the need for high resistance to corrosive materials. It is an excellent improvement to a trusted flooring solution.”
Stonchem 691 is easily applied and hardens to an attractive gloss finish. When tested according to European Standard EN 1081, the finished surface measures a resistance lower than 1,000,000Ω (Ohms).
The product is ideal for tank farms, solvent storage, explosion-proof room, secondary containment areas, concrete pads and pedestals and splash/spill areas.
Its durable finish makes it easy to clean and maintain, it provides static charge generation and spark control even in low humidity environments and single-step. conductivity allows for easy repair.
Texture options provide excellent slip resistance and the product comes in seven standard colours with customised colours available on request.
