Airprotech is part of Deurotech Group and is a leading provider of turnkey environmental technologies to purify polluted process gases and reduce the impact of emissions on the environment.

Since 1995, airprotech has been internationally active with a wide range of installations for the reduction of industrial emissions, in particular for VOCs (volatile organic compounds), VICs (volatile inorganic compounds), solvents, odours and hydrocarbons.

Our strongest expertise is in thermal oxidation plants, such as RTO (regenerative thermal oxidizers) and recuperative thermal oxidizers for VOCs and halogenated VOCs. We are one of the world leaders using the rotor-concentrator for large flows with low solvent concentrations.

In the UK we are working with the local company Envirocombustion Systems Ltd.

PRODUCTS

REGENERATIVE THERMAL OXIDIZER

Regenerative thermal oxidizers are specifically designed to destroy the pollutants from the process gas through thermal oxidation at high temperature, the chemical energy contained in the pollutants is transformed in thermic energy to sustain the combustion itself. RTO exploit the capacity of a mass of inert material to accumulate cyclically and give back the heat generated by the combustion process. The efficacy of the thermal recovery can reach up to 96%, thus drastically reducing the consumption of the support fuel and consequently the plant operating costs.

ROTORCONCENTRATOR

airprotech supplies zeolite-based VOC rotor-concentrators that are typically installed in case of low concentration of pollutants and large gas flow rate. The volatile organic compounds VOC contained in the laden air flow are concentrated by adsorption in a zeolite-based rotor-concentrator. The pollutants concentrated in the rotor-concentrator are desorbed and finally treated by a thermal oxidizer with reduced size. The application of rotor-concentrators is very interesting to reduce the overall investment costs compared to the installation of a large size RTO designed for the entire air flow rate.

THERMAL OXIDIZERS FOR HALOGENATED SOLVENTS

Thermal and catalytic oxidation are the processes adopted for treatment of halogenated organic compounds, these systems are integrated with scrubbers and reaction towers for the treatment of the acid substances derived from the oxidation including hydrogen chloride HCl, hydrogen fluoride HF, hydrogen bromide HBr. airprotech is delivering tailor-made systems designed upon the requirement for each specific production process, providing the highest performances for the abatement of all pollutants and hazardous substances.

ADSORPTION ON ACTIVATED CARBON

Activated carbon is an inert solid adsorbent material used to remove contaminants from process gas streams. Removal of pollutants takes place through adsorption phenomena based on surface interactions between contaminants and carbon surface. The regeneration phase of activated carbon foresees that the volatile organic compounds VOC can be desorbed from the activated carbon: • the regeneration occurs externally from the system and activated carbon need to be replaced periodically • the activated carbon is regenerated internally to the plant through a specific cleaning system with injection of steam

SCRUBBERS AND WASHING TOWERS

Wet scrubbers and spray towers are used mainly for the removal of volatile organic and inorganic compounds, using water as abatement media for those pollutants which are water-soluble substances, using additional chemical reagents in case of inorganic compounds to be neutralized. The design of the plant and the choice of the chemical reagent depends on the substances contained in the gas to be purified. airprotech delivers different typologies of plants for the wet abatement through chemical-physical absorption including sieve tray towers with perforated plates and scrubbers with random fill media.

CATALYTIC OXIDIZERS

Based on a catalytic oxidation reaction for the treatment of organic substances, the gas cleaning process is carried out with lower temperature using high-performance base-metal and precious-metal catalysts. airprotech designs catalytic oxidizers with different configurations, catalyst material can be installed in form of pellets or honeycomb, in some cases the system is integrated with heat exchanger to regenerate the heat of exhaust gases. Catalytic oxidizers can guarantee the highest performances for the abatement of volatile organic compounds VOC and CO, thus consequently the lowest emissions to the atmosphere.
