About this presentation

Reactive extrusion processes with the Planetary Roller Extruder, a customised solution for any challenge The planetary roller extruder (PRE) is a multi-modular extrusion system characterized by targeted mechanical adaptability and precise thermal process control. This, in combination with the special mechanical operating principle of this machine type, enables the implementation of demanding mixing, degassing and reactive extrusion processes which are used in the manufacture of a wide variety of products and often provide the basis for new material innovations. For successfully performing reactive extrusion, there are several decisive factors: rapidly mixing the reactants, targeted and precise temperature control and high-performance devolatilization or degassing. Be it mixing processes with endothermic and exothermic reactions or chemically induced foaming processes, the degassing of chemical reactions or chemical recycling processes – the PRE’s unique properties allow a wide range of technical process options for implementing chemical reactions in continuous extrusion processes. With this speech ENTEX will introduce the PRE’s mechanical operating principle and the multi-modular structure. Process zones can be regulated both thermally and mechanically and each process section can be individually configured for the reaction sequences in chemical processes which is shown with practical examples.

Speaker Bio:

Frank Fuchs is the head of sales at Entex, where he is responsible for promoting the advancements of the related design evolution of the planetary roller extruder. Fuchs has a Dipl.-Ing. degree in mechanical engineering with a specialism in polymer processing from IKV at RWTH Aachen. With his experience in the plastics industry and at Entex, he has more than 20 years of experience in the fields of polymer research, polymer processing and quality control. Apparently, the Entex planetary roller extruder convinced him, so here we are today.
