Mike George
Professor of Chemistry, University of Nottingham
Mike George is a Professor of Chemistry at The University of Nottingham. From 2014-16 he was Vice-Provost for Research and Knowledge Exchange at the University of Nottingham Ningbo working in China. From 2016 he has been the Director of Global Engagement for the Faculty of Science at UoN. He led (2017-23) a EPSRC Programme Grant, a multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional research group focused on innovating fine chemical, agrochemical, and pharmaceutical manufacturing in the UK using continuous photo-, electro-, and thermo-chemistry. A key output is a new Vortex reactor technology platform for continuous manufacture which already is on a scale equivalent >10 kg/day with a small footprint reactor. Recent awards include the RSC 2022 Interdisciplinary Award and the RSC 2023 Emerging Technology Competition Enabling Technologies prize for the “Nottingham Vortex: scalable process platform to accelerate discovery to production”.
