About this Session

How and why the cosmetics and personal care industry needs to be at the forefront of life cycle analysis practices from ingredient supply, to formulation design, to end of life/environmental fate, to zero waste concepts. Speaker Bio:

My name is Laurie Gerrish, I studied my undergraduate in Chemistry ( B.A) at the University of Poitiers in France, and recently graduated from the Cambridge University Institute for Sustainability Leadership in Business Sustainability Management (with Distinction).

I started my career as a development chemist for a construction company in America and later moved to their UK office. After this I moved to Yorkshire to work in the cosmetic industry as part of the regulatory team and have progressed to become the sustainability manager for Orean Personal care. My role in the company is to lead carbon neutral and BCORP certification amongst other sustainability projects.

I will be talking about the importance of LCA in manufacturing. From raw materials impact to choosing the right packaging In my talk I will also discuss how credentials like BCORP help us as a manufacturer to demonstrate to our clients we are doing the right thing and align with
