Plaster
Plaster, specifically Plaster of Paris, is a quick-setting gypsum plaster made of fine white powder (calcium sulphate hemihydrate) that hardens when wet and left to dry. Its chemical formula is CaSO4.1/2H2O indicating that it is a dihydrate compound. When heated it forms an anhydrous calcium sulphate. Plaster and Plaster of Paris exhibits several properties, including being fire-resistant, with low expansion (expanding slowly and slightly upon setting), and forming a robust surface to resist regular knocks after drying. Plaster of Paris is non-flammable, and non-combustible, and has low chemical reactivity. Plaster is most commonly valued for being easily and rapidly mixed in with very good uniform dispersion and stable rheology properties, although other performance benefits include: - Easily dispersed with stable rheological properties - Good cure rates and thermal conductivity - High chemical resistance - High purity grades can be used in specialist pharmaceutical and food manufacturing Grades Available AgM:P10 Alpha Plaster AgM:P20 Beta Plaster/Casting Plaster AgM:P30 Jiggering Plaster AgM:P40 Ram Press Plaster AgM:P50 Ceramic Moulding Plaster AgM:P60 Case Plaster

Plates and Mats
Chromatography Direct supplies a practical range of Plates and Mats to support efficient, reliable sample handling in high-throughput laboratory workflows. For ChemUK 2026, we are showcasing plate-based consumables and accessories that help labs improve productivity, minimise contamination risk, and maintain sample integrity across preparation, storage, and analysis. Our range includes 96 well, 384 well, and 48 well plates, giving you the flexibility to match throughput, working volume, and workflow requirements for screening, sample prep, and routine processing. These formats are widely used across analytical chemistry, life science, environmental testing, and QC applications where consistency and repeatability matter. To protect samples during storage, transport, and automation, we also provide mats and sealing options, including foils, designed to help reduce evaporation, prevent leaks, and limit cross-contamination. Selecting the right seal is often critical for maintaining sample concentration and achieving dependable results, especially when plates are stored or handled over longer periods. For workflows that need multi-sample processing with added clean-up or separation, we also offer filter-based plate options (“filts”) and related consumables to streamline preparation steps and reduce manual handling. We support these plate workflows with complementary instruments and tools to help improve handling efficiency and consistency in both manual and automated environments. Visit our ChemUK 2026 profile to explore Chromatography Direct’s plates, mats, foils, filters, and supporting tools, and speak with our team about the best configuration for your application.
